Star Wars Return of the Jedi :
Special Edition - 1997
title: Layout & Storyboard ArtistIt was a lifelong dream to work on Star Wars. I saw 'A New Hope' when I was 5, and for the many formative years that followed, the Star Wars universe was omnipresent. I felt the influence of Ralph McQuarrie, Joe Johnston, Phil Tippett and the many other creative people involved in the originals, but the idea of working as an artist on those films was hard to visualize.
When I started at ILM in 1995, Doug Chiang and his team had already started
on Episode I and it was Terryl Whitlach's absence from the ILM Art Dept.
that gave me a chance to fill in the Creature Designer void there. My first
film credit came with 'Return of the Jedi' Special Edition in 1997. I did
creature design, storyboards, and costume work for the 'Jedi Rocks' musical
sequence in Jabba's palace. I was also an extra in Ep.VI and I. I'll be
posting some artwork & scenes from the 'Jedi Rocks' sequence & a
few other gems soon ...
